Title Fight: Lamb of God

Why did God choose to present Jesus as the Lamb? The people of Israel were of course very familiar with the sacrificial system instituted by God through Moses hundreds of years before. They knew the significance of the sacrificial lamb. John the Baptist introduced Jesus as the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. John wasn’t merely referring to the meekness of Christ. Rather he presented Jesus Christ, right from the beginning, as the great sacrifice for sin -- the Lamb who came to make final atonement for sin by His death on the cross.
