Who God Is - Part 7

GOD: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS

God revealed Himself at Jehovah-Tsidkenu, the Lord our righteousness. Our God requires perfection if we are to be in His holy presence. Before God’s perfection and His perfect requirement, our sin account is horribly overdrawn -- if we’ve broken one law, we’ve broken them all. Then comes Jesus and He applies His righteousness to our ledger which satisfies God’s just requirement and God no longer requires payment for our sin account. The good news is Jesus paid the debt for all who come for justification and redemption. God makes a legal declaration by which He declares a person just after the righteousness of Christ is applied to the account of every regenerated sinner. We are justified by faith on the foundation of the righteousness of Christ Jesus credited to our account. Our record doesn’t change, buy our guilt does! We have said that worship is gazing at God through the lens of Jesus Christ. This doctrine of the imputed, or accredited righteousness of Christ, God looks upon us through the lens of Christ as well!
