Contrary to the pictures we see attempting to characterize Jesus as a mild-mannered Nazarene Rabbi, Jesus was a revolutionary! It took blood and guts -- blood and raw courage to be the man Jesus was and at the same time God and to set aside His prerogatives of Deity and lay down His life for those who were in rebellion against God. Jesus did NOT come to make good people better. He came to make dead people live! To do this it took blood and guts. And if you look closely, the real Jesus is NOTHING like the meek-mannered media Jesus. The real Jesus is the “Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace, Controller of governments GOD-MAN.” Able to pay the price for sin and rescue you and I from its penalty. I’m not attracted to a sugar-coated Jesus. I am however filled with holy fear as I look at Him closely.
