The first candle of the advent is often called the Prophet’s candle. It signifies the hope of Messiah’s arrival. The theme is that of Hope -- the confident expectation of God’s people that He would keep His promise and send a Deliverer. As you light the Prophet’s Candle in your celebration, celebrate the God who loved and therefore moved out in compassion to send His Deliverer: Jesus Christ. The sent One, by whose unique birth, life and death, we are redeemed from our sin that separated us from God.
